ArtistI have rocks in my pockets And a tear in my eye Earthbound I will yet remain But all my friends can fly portrait in ochre, Art Brut, moody, somber, desaturated colors
A dark, moody, and surrealist painting by Max Ernst shows a vast landscape of black spiky rock formations under a cloudy and textured sky. In the upper center, a large, stylized, and smooth gray mask-like face with empty eyes and a long nose floats in the dramatic scene. Below the floating face, two smaller black triangular shapes also float. The foreground shows silhouetted figures walking away on a sandy, rocky terrain. The painting is filled with dynamic light and shadow that enhances the eerie atmosphere.
