A whimsical sketch in a field notebook ca. 1940 illustrating a sighting of the legendary Two Egg Stump Jumper in a North Florida swampy wetlands; a miniature Bigfoot-like creature, shorter than an average human with long hair and pale or white coloring. The illustration shows it walking on two legs carrying two wild turkey eggs, also illustrated is the non-human oversized tracks, accompanied by field notes in cursive describing the loud growls, roars, or chattering sounds heard while studying the creature. The top of the page is inscribed "Notes from Two Egg, Florida, June, 1952", this is an anthropologist's field notebook including habitat details and, showing age and use.
Two Egg, Florida, is famous for regional lore, including the ghost of Elizabeth Jane Bellamy at Bellamy Bridge (an 1837 tragedy where a bride's dress caught fire) and sightings of a local Bigfoot variant known as the "Two Egg Stump Jumper", which is also known as the North Parramore Hobbit (Parramore is a nearby ghost town).
The local lore surrounding the Two Egg Stump Jumper relies on a mix of physical, auditory, and photographic evidence collected by residents and researchers over the decades: unusual footprints, a crudely built leanto in "Stump Jumper Slough" with multiple sightings of matted-down areas in the pine straw and leaves indicative of a large creature bedding down or nesting, hikers reporting sounds not usual for any of the local wildlife. In 2010, local interest was renewed when a wildlife trail camera placed deep in the woods caught a widely discussed image. Rather than a full-body shot, the footage reportedly captured a distinct pair of glowing red eyes peering intently directly into the lens from the dark brush.
