“Devil’s Dream” is a well-known traditional fiddle reel with origins in Scottish, Irish, and American folk music. Though its exact origins are uncertain, the tune likely dates back to at least the 18th or early 19th century. It became widely recognized in North America through its inclusion in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883), a major compilation of fiddle tunes by William Bradbury Ryan. However, it was almost certainly played before that, passed down orally among musicians.
