In a dusty castle chamber, a tall wizard, kind but stern, points out to his apprentice that in the corner there is a broom aching and waiting to be put to use, stipple, wet brush, cute, young apprentice looks ruefully at broom, broom leans toward the apprentice, who is wearing a simple robe and peaked hat,
A cartoon-style watercolor illustration depicts a tall, elderly wizard pointing his finger at a small, despondent young boy who is looking down with a sad expression at a wooden broom that appears to actually be eager to be used. The boy, Simon, was hoping to be learning magic not doing chores.
I used Disney-ish imagery, but the inspiration was from characters in The Dragonbone Chair. The wizard in that is known as a professor and doesn't wear robes and hat, and the boy is his apprentice but he does work around the castle and usually wears very plain clothes, pants and shirts.
