Marshal Duke & “The Hair of the Dog”
Out in the dust where the coyotes cry,
Rides Marshal Duke with a squinty eye.
A bloodhound bold with a nose for crime—
And a taste for tomatoes with vodka and lime.
He don’t shoot first, he just sips slow,
From a mason jar with a celery bow.
His bark’s worse than bullets, his howl’s the law,
He’ll sniff out your secrets with a droopy jaw.
With a cowboy hat and a lazy drawl,
He’s the saloon’s top dog, the toast of them all.
So if you’re cheatin’ or stealin’ away—
Best hide your sins ‘fore Duke hits the buffet.
