Hubble Space Telescope image of the Black Eye Galaxy (NGC 64), a majestic spiral galaxy set against the deep blackness of space. The galaxy is tilted diagonally from the upper left to the lower right. Its bright, intensely glowing white core is surrounded by numerous intricate dust lanes, prominent dark red-brown dust bands that give it a brooding appearance. The outer arms are a mix of white, bluish, and purplish hues, peppered with clumps of newborn blue stars and glowing nebulae. The surrounding black void of space is dotted with numerous distant stars of varying brightness, some with prominent diffraction spikes, particularly a few bright foreground stars in the upper right and lower left corners.
