ArtistRene Descartes inventing analytical geometry while watching cracks on the wall. Mostly drawn in the style of M.C. Escher in his paradoxical manner, with a little help from other artists. Some details spontaneously evolve into self-referential fractals.
An imaginative painting in a vintage-style room shows a man with short, curly, dark hair, wearing a white shirt, sitting up in a wooden bed with a headboard, holding an open notebook with mathematical diagrams and text, looking up towards the upper right of the painting. He is covered with a blue blanket. Below the bed, on a red patterned rug, a brown tabby cat with long fur is sleeping. To the right of the bed is a wooden nightstand with a lit oil lamp. The wall behind the bed and nightstand is white and cracked, with various shapes and colors appearing in the cracks, like a broken dream or an abstract painting. These cracks morph into a watercolor-style depiction of a forest and a window with a diamond pattern. The room has wooden floorboards, some of which are covered by the rug.
