ArtistArabian oryx (Oryx leucoryx) roaming through the Arabian desert
An oil painting on canvas shows an oryx, viewed from the side, walking across a desert in the foreground in golden sunlight, with a herd of oryxes in the mid-ground and tall, brown sand dunes in the background under a light blue sky. The oryx in the foreground is walking towards the left of the image and has long, sharp, black horns pointing upwards. Its coat is white with black markings and a black tail. Its left foreleg is raised and its left hind leg is extended. The sand has small dips and rises and sparse, desert shrubs. The mid-ground shows a herd of around twenty oryxes walking from the left behind the fore-grounded oryx, toward the right of the image. The sand dunes in the background are very steep and rise into peaks. They cast shadows behind them. The light blue sky has no clouds.
