Tane-rore Before Summer: The 1st Haka
by © emma cha
Solar breath trembles
young fire rises through silence —
the haka is born
In a sacred close-up vision, Tane-rore performs the first haka beneath the ancestral presence of their parents, Tama-nui-te-ra and Hine-raumati. The young dancer emerges between solar force and summer tenderness, transforming movement into myth and spiritual inheritance.
Artistic Statement:
This work seeks intimacy rather than spectacle. By bringing the myth close to the viewer, the painting transforms haka into an inner sacred vibration. The partially dissolved parental figures become cosmic presences witnessing the birth of identity, rhythm and ancestral memory.
Influences:
Paul Gauguin: deep influence for sacred Polynesian mythology, tropical spiritual atmosphere and monumental symbolic presence.
Emil Nolde: deep influence for ritual intensity, volcanic chromatic heat and mystical emotional vibration.
Amedeo Modigliani: medium-deep influence for sacred facial stillness, elongated spiritual calm and intimate monumental portraiture.
