Here, one may wear pearls to eat noodles, bring flowers to apologize to an abandoned house, arrive late for coffee with one’s own shadow, carry a cake through a thunderstorm, or accept unsolicited emotional advice from a tiny yellow bird.
Nothing is entirely sensible.
That is the point.
These dreams begin as jokes, tiny absurdities planted by irresponsible gardeners who probably should know better. Yet somewhere between the ridiculous situation and the beautiful light, something tender happens. The woman who makes us laugh begins to resemble us. Her awkwardness becomes familiar. Her stubbornness becomes courage. Her ridiculous little ritual becomes the way she survives something she cannot quite say.
