Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. It is considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is a time of spiritual reflection, increased devotion, and worship. The fasting during Ramadan involves abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs during daylight hours, with the intention of purifying the soul, practicing self-discipline, and seeking closeness to Allah. Ramadan is also a time for Muslims to increase their acts of charity, prayer, and kindness towards others. At the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, a festival of breaking the fast and giving thanks to Allah for the blessings they have received.
