The creature stands roughly human-height but carries itself with a low, deliberate posture, as if its center of gravity were distributed through a lattice of internal struts rather than a single spine. Its outer body is covered in overlapping plates of matte chitin, each plate thin at the edges and thickened toward the center, forming a segmented shell that flexes in subtle waves when it moves. The plates are not uniform: some are smooth and dark like polished basalt, while others are ridged with fine, comb-like grooves that catch light in narrow bands. Along the shoulders, flanks, and thighs, the armor breaks into layered fans of smaller scales, allowing the creature to twist with surprising agility despite its heavy appearance. Its head is narrow and wedge-shaped, with no obvious mouth in the conventional sense. Instead, the lower face opens through a vertical seam lined with retractable keratinous blades, used for feeding or manipulation.
