A shepherd boy, with heart so bold,
Chosen by God, a story told.
A giant slayer, brave and strong,
With faith in God, he marched along.
Anointed king, in humble ways,
Ruled with justice, all his days.
A psalmist, poet, heart aglow,
His songs of praise, with love did flow.
A warrior king, with battles won,
United Israel, as one.
Conquered lands, and built a throne,
A kingdom flourished, his name well known.
Yet David faltered, made mistakes,
Repented, learned from each heartache.
His faith in God, unwavering still,
A man after God's own will.
A legacy, both bright and dim,
A complex man, yet loved by Him.
His story told, in sacred scrolls,
A king who rose, and paid the tolls.
King David's reign, a tale so grand,
A symbol of God's guiding hand.
A flawed yet faithful, chosen king,
Whose praises still, forever sing.
