A fantastical, surrealistic painting features a figure in a black coat and top hat standing in a whimsical forest, gazing at a castle perched atop a tree. The sky is dark blue, with a full moon and small white birds. The landscape is dominated by large, gnarled trees with roots forming undulating hills. Numerous red-capped mushrooms with thin stems are scattered throughout the scene. The castle is white with multiple spires and windows. Butterflies with orange and black wings flit around. The overall style is reminiscent of storybook illustrations, with a slightly textured, dreamlike quality.
