Pandora, seated upon the floor in a lotus position. The infamous “Pandora's box“ is directly in front of her. She has opened the lid of the box and is looking into it. We can see the look of shock and horror on her face. There is an eerie, otherworldly glow illuminating her face from within the box. Mists and vaporous fumes have risen from the box and are all about the room. Within the mist and fumes, the images and shapes of horrible, hellish creatures can be seen. They represent the plethora of evils that Pandora has just released upon the world: famine, disease, plague, and all manner of debauchery and horror is represented in these many figures and shapes.
