An oil painting depicts a large black raven taking flight in a stark, surreal landscape. The raven is suspended in the air with its wings fully spread, its claws dangling, and its head turned in profile. The landscape consists of a gnarled, twisted tree with vibrant orange leaves on the left, its roots spreading across a flat, orange-gold ground that is also strewn with fallen orange leaves. Several other black ravens are scattered on the ground, some standing and others slightly crouched. The sky is a deep, swirling dark blue with visible brushstrokes, dominated by a large, bright yellow sun or moon that casts a soft, circular glow behind the flying raven. The overall art style is reminiscent of Post-Impressionism, with bold brushstrokes and rich, contrasting colors.
