This was right after the Oga Namahage Festival on New Year's Eve. It was kind of like trick or treating on Halloween, except it was for adults. Every house we stopped at gave shots of Saki and food.
The purpose was to scare the kids into behaving better. We dawned straw masks and made loud noises outside a home. We would be greeted in with Saki and food. Each house was a party by itself.
OMG! We stopped at countless houses, countless shots. At this point I thought the drinking was done. I was beyond trashed. But, lol, this was just the beginning of the after party.
I remember card games and lots of food, but that is about all I could remember at this point. These folks were wonderful to party with. The kindness was beyond measure.
