Meticulous, joyful watercolor of sun-dappled, dense, semi-tropical underbrush in North Carolina woodland filled with a variety of palmetto leaves, ferns and dry leaves on the ground. Large, broad-leaved ferns with intricate patterns stand alongside glossy, dark green palmetto fronds that arch gracefully. Some striking red and orange foliage contrasts with the greens, tans and browns. Some leaves are heart-shaped, light green and variegated with prominent, white veins. The background is darkish, allowing the colors, shapes and patterns of the leaves to stand out. Prize-winning illustration in a style reminiscent of Simonetta Occhipinti, Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Jakob Demus, Hildegard Könighofer and Margareta Pertl as well as Siobhan Larkin. Museum-quality aquarelle painted all the way to the edges of the heavy, handmade rag paper.
A vibrant tropical scene featuring lush green palm fronds and colorful foliage, with a path winding through the dense vegetation, illuminated by soft sunlight filtering through the trees.
