Caiphas Broods

More about Caiphas Broods

A highly detailed oil painting depicts an ancient high priest, seated on a stone throne, wearing a blue robe, a crown, and a jeweled breastplate. His hands are folded on his lap, and he has a serious expression with a dark beard. To his left, on a small wooden table, rests a lit candle in a brass holder, illuminating a partially unrolled scroll with Hebrew text and a red wax seal. In the background, several men with beards and dark hooded robes stand and sit, observing the high priest within a stone chamber. The overall lighting is dim, with the candle providing the primary illumination.
