A group of people in hoodies sits with dogs in a graffiti-laden street, an artistic tunnel leading to a house in the background.
Four youths and two dogs sit on a blanket amidst an urban backdrop, with canned food and a desolate atmosphere.
The "Mokli" app is designed to help homeless street children return to society. Affected young people helped develop the application. Using an interactive map, Mokli provides contact addresses for obtaining free food, a place to sleep or medical care. They meet at Berlin's Alexanderplatz not far from the television tower in Mitte, at Warschauer Brücke in Friedrichshain or at Hansaplatz subway station, not far from the Tiergarten park: street children in Berlin. They sit on park benches or on the street, many drink alcohol, smoke when there is something to smoke, and quite a few take drugs. Their numbers are increasing. This is because more and more young refugees are now living on the streets in Berlin, says Jörg Richert from Karuna, an association that looks after street and refugee children.
