And still they choose to deny or ignore the climate crisis.
So far this year: Flash floods killed at least 135 people (over 100 still missing) in Central Texas and more rain is forecast; heavy rains have filled New York City subway stations swamping platforms, two people in a vehicle in New Jersey were swept away and drowned. Storms have stranded Washington D.C. area motorists. Deadly torrents returned to North Carolina and New Mexico, both already devastated by previous flooding. And here in north Florida this summer, we get rain every single day.
This Monday (July 14) saw the most flash flood warnings ever issued across the US in a single July day, with nearly 100, primarily across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Since the beginning of the year the national weather service has issued more than 3,000 flood warnings, twice the previous amounts.
