On the Day of the Dead, we remember our kin, Those who have left us, but still live within. Their faces we see in the flickering light, Of candles that guide them back into sight. We lay out their photos, their favorite things, Offering up memories, as our offering. Their spirits return, we welcome them in, With altars adorned, and offerings of kin. They come to us now, on this special night, To join in our revelry, and share in our plight. Their love and their wisdom, they leave us to hold, As their stories are told, and their presence is bold. So on this Day of the Dead, we honor our past, Our loved ones who've left us, but whose love will last. For though they are gone, they are never truly lost, Their spirits remain, forever embossed.
