from the rivers to the ocean
A highly detailed, almost photograph-like painting depicts a winding river, the color of coffee with cream, flowing toward a restless ocean under a pale, clouded sky. In the foreground, numerous rustic wooden docks and piers lead into the water, some appearing dilapidated. To the extreme left, a small, light-colored wooden boat rests on the riverbank, tied to a dock. Beyond it, a small brown house with a dark roof is visible on the riverbank, nestled amidst marshy landscape and a dark green hill. The river meanders through banks covered in sparse brown and green vegetation. On the right side of the river, several overturned boats, mostly red, are scattered on the grassy bank. A prominent white and red boat, with peeling paint, sits in the immediate foreground, part of its bow cut off by the frame's edge. This boat is surrounded by weeds and a wooden dock leading to the river is visible behind it. The open ocean in the background is marked by rolling waves with white caps that extend to the horizon. The overall scene is serene yet slightly melancholic, rendered in muted tones.
