The scene is a winter night in the far north. At the left edge of the frame we can see a dark porch of a small darkened cabin. Sitting on the porch next to each other are an older man (mid 60's) and an older woman (also mid 60's) who sit next to each other looking at the beautiful scene above them. They are dressed in warm winter clothing and two mugs of cocoa sit steaming on a small table before them. The husband has his arm around his wife who snuggles against him. The ground around the cabin is covered in a blanket of smooth unbroken snow several inches deep. There is a frozen lake in the background, covered in ice with some small snow drifts across the surface. It is night and the sky is full dark. However, in that peaceful night sky is a beautiful and dazzling display of the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights are a rippling band of striped light. The primary color of the lights is green with a few streaks of purple and pink adding some extra dazzle to the display. The lights give a slight green tinge to the entire scene. A hazy reflection of the lights on the snow covered lake can be made out where the ice is not covered by snow. The snow on the ground had a slight green tinge as reflected from the lights. Above the lights we can make out a few stars on the dark clear night. On the right side of the frame is some scrub and a few evergreen trees. Barely noticeable almost hidden in the brush is a small white snowshoe hare who also seems transfixed by the beauty of the lights. The whole scene, while dimly lit, represents a peaceful calm and tranquil night being enjoyed by a happy couple. An elderly couple sitting on the porch of a dark cabin, facing a frozen lake with ice mounds, looking up at the vibrant green and purple aurora borealis in the night sky. The man has his arm around the woman, who is wearing an orange jacket. In front of them, a small table holds two steaming mugs. The foreground is covered in snow, with a small evergreen tree and bushes to the right. A white rabbit sits amongst the bushes, looking towards the lake. The aurora is reflected faintly in the ice of the lake.
