Once stood tall, proud and free,
A birch tree, now lifeless, I see.
Branches bare, limbs stark and stark,
Silent witness to the shadows dark.
Leaves that danced in the gentle breeze,
Now rustle no more, fallen with ease.
Bark that once shone with silver hue,
Now cracked and weathered, a somber view.
Birds that nested, sang their song,
Have moved on, the tree forlorn.
But in its trunk, a story remains,
Of a life well-lived, despite its pains.
For even in death, a birch tree's grace,
Stands as a monument in this quiet place.
A reminder of nature's cycle true,
Of seasons changing, and life anew.
