In its youngest stages, the mycelial dryad looks the least like humans and is stationary until it grows big enough to travel on its own. A sproutling that is desperate enough may cling to an animal and carefully try to wiggle its mycelial strands into an orifice on the head to take control long enough to hitch a ride to its desired destination.
