An oil painting depicts a young boy and girl mounting a horse in a grassy field under a bright blue sky filled with white clouds. The girl, with blonde hair in a ponytail, wearing a patterned shirt and jeans, is struggling to climb onto the back of a large black-and-white horse with a leather saddle. The boy, with short blonde hair, wearing a red long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans, is standing on the ground, pushing her left leg up toward the stirrup. His straw cowboy hat is falling off his head and is suspended mid-air to his right. A tricolored hound dog sits on the grass a few feet to the right, looking up and barking with its tongue out. The horse is standing still, facing left, with its head lowered slightly. The field is covered in green grass and small wildflowers in shades of yellow and purple. In the background, rolling hills stretch out into the distance under a vast, cloud-streaked sky.
