More about The Ten Commandments - Deuteronomy 5 Poem

Deuteronomy Chapter 5, a moment so divine,
When God revealed His laws, a treasure so fine.
To Moses and Israel, His people so dear,
The Ten Commandments, spoken loud and clear.
"Have no other gods before Me," God proclaimed,
As Moses and the people listened, unashamed.
Idols and worship of any other kind,
Were forbidden by God, the One divine.
"Make no graven images," God declared,
For He alone deserved to be revered.
His name was to be holy, not used in vain,
A reverence and respect, they must maintain.
"Remember the Sabbath day," God's command,
To rest and honor, in His presence stand.
To keep it holy, a day of worship and rest,
A time to commune with God, and be truly blessed.
"Honor your father and mother," God decreed,
To show respect and love, indeed.
To uphold family ties, and honor the aged,
A commandment of wisdom, that never aged.
"Thou shall not kill," God's law so clear,
To value life, and hold it dear.
To refrain from taking innocent blood,
A commandment of love, understood.
"Thou shall not commit adultery," God's decree,
To honor marriage and purity.
To cherish the sacred bond of love,
A commandment from heaven, from above.
"Thou shall not steal," God's law so just,
To respect others' property, a must.
To be honest and upright in all we do,
A commandment of integrity, so true.
"Thou shall not bear false witness," God's plea,
To speak the truth, and not deceive.
To uphold justice and honesty,
A commandment of integrity, so key.
"Thou shall not covet," God's word so wise,
To be content and not crave others' prize.
To be satisfied with what we possess,
A commandment of contentment, we confess.
Deuteronomy Chapter 5, a sacred call,
To follow God's commandments, one and all.
To honor and obey, with reverence and awe,
For His laws are a reflection of His love's pure draw.
So let us heed God's timeless law,
And let it guide our lives, without flaw.
For in His commandments, wisdom we find,
A treasure of truth, for all mankind.
