Mitosis is a process in which a cell's nucleus divides to form two separate nuclei. During mitosis, chromosomes (DNA compressed into chromosomes) are formed in pairs, then each of these pairs move into separate nuclei. At the end of this stage, the cell has two separate nuclei.
