Sailor on a sailing ship, Oh there once was a sailor who sailed away to sea, he was very successful at sea; Now the first thing he caught was a mermaid on the rocks, with a yo heave ho ship ahoy, and he caught her neatly in an empty herring box with a yo ho my hearties as she combed her yellow locks, and hurrah for a jolly sailor boy,
This is from a song I remembered from my youth, it's about a man who sailed away to sea. He has several adventures including one about a "mighty spouting whale," here I illustrated the verse about him capturing a mermaid. :)
The caption is incomplete; this is the part about the mermaid:
Now the next thing he saw was a mermaid on the rocks,
With a yo heave ho ship ahoy,
And he caught her neatly in an empty herring box,
With a yo ho my hearties as she combed her yellow locks,
And hurrah for a jolly sailor boy!
The mermaid, with long blonde hair, sits in a wooden crate labeled "HERRING," wearing a seashell bra and a green mermaid tail, smiling while combing her hair with a purple comb. She doesn't look alarmed; I have a feeling he won't be able to keep her very long.
