a complete copper alloy jetton from the 1589 series produced by Hans Krauwinckel. The museum reviewer’s expert notes reveal detail long obscured on the object itself. He identifies the obverse as Fortuna Variabilis—Variable Fortune—seated upon her wheel, holding the Scythe of Time and a leash securing the chains of a kneeling, goat-legged figure. The reverse depicts Fama (Fame) standing between the sun and a crescent moon, blowing two trumpets toward the stars.
Two bronze coins are depicted in a flat lay image. The left coin features a woman with flowing drapery seated on a large spoked wheel, holding a scythe in each hand. Below her, a bearded man kneels with his arms outstretched towards her. The right coin shows a woman standing, blowing two long trumpets. Above her, a sun with a face and several stars are visible. Below her, two crescent moons are depicted. Both coins have a beaded border. Below the coins, there is text printed in black sans-serif font.
