Nature does not exist for us to act out our compulsion to control it. Yet, we ought to tend to our garden, as Voltaire once said ;)
And this garden should encompass our entire environment. So, ensure that it can flourish, that it isn't littered with plastic, scorched by climate change, razed to the ground by major corporations, left to perish from pesticides and herbicides, or suffocated by exhaust fumes!
And if you have the chance to plant even a small patch of ground yourself, even in the city, do it!
Plant early- and late-blooming flowers for bees; plant berries for birds and wasps; give weeds some space, too, for they are often the nursery for butterfly caterpillars.; try to choose plants that can adapt to climate change and don't require constant artificial watering; make sure to plant as wide a variety of species as possible; and let them grow wild so their shade protects the soil from drying out.
Help nature reclaim its space so it can protect us from all the havoc we have wreaked.
