Realistic and cartoon drawing blend. Moody, ethereal. Very intricate lines and details. Masterful composition - a seascape first, and only then, for the patient eye, a presence. The strokes are the life of the picture and the lights come from them. Pressentie - sensed before seen. A dark storm-swell at night, waves and foam-threads in full turmoil, whitecaps streaming, spray curling - a pure seascape, no figure drawn anywhere. And yet: in the way the currents happen to fall, a suggestion. The crests and foam-lines of the central swell align - almost by accident - into what could be the features of a woman's face, the way faces appear in clouds: two darker hollows where the sea parts that might be eyes, a curve of breaking foam that might be a cheekbone, a soft line of spray that might be lips. Nothing is outlined; nothing is explicit; no skin, no drawn face - only wave-forms whose gathered light hints at her. Half the viewers would see only a magnificent storm. The other half would never unsee her. Where her hair would be, the foam simply streams longer, carrying the faintest white-and-rainbow shimmer off into the dark. Deep in the swell, at the place a heart would be, one warm glow low in the water - light the sea seems to be keeping, without explanation. Near dark night tempest palette, all light from thread-edges, foam-crests, and the one kept glow. Out-of-time and timeless. The sea, considering her. Not yet, and already. Masterpiece, vast, quiet. au fond, je suis à toi
and in the sea of you, i lost track of time and space
at peace, always, in the hearth of you
