A wallpaper style celebration for Diversity Saturday, October 3rd The clean-up crew, a gathering of detritavores in a stylized rendering, in the center is the largest, a Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura), beside it is an Ocypode macrocera, commonly known as the red ghost crab; in the soil around them are American Giant Millipede (Narceus americanus), a dung beetle rolling a ball of dung, termites in and cockroaches.
Celebrate nature's clean-up crew. They aren't the most beautiful, but they are among the most important of us, because their very existence helps maintain a healthy ecosystem. As they simply live their lives, they give back to the earth that supports us all. That is far more than we can say of our own species.
