This is a black and white family photo showing a man and his wife, and their kids - two boys and two girls. Just that the man in the center is fading away, blurred, fuzzy, off focus - as if he was slowly disappearing and vanishing or being erased from the picture - this is an allegory of divorce and the resulting alienation from the family circle - poignant and uncanny and disturbing - old battered scratched hazy picture with folding scratches with slight passed yellowish tone. The clothes are simple and modern - the man is slender and takes little space on the image
A bond loosens, almost without notice - anger fed, reproaches uttered, silences weaponized. What held the family together slowly erodes, then gives way - papers signed, doors closing, routines dividing. Days are split between houses. Voices become occasional, then distant. The once-center is pushed to the very edge. The others remain, close in their own way. What was once shared between all is no longer held in common - and a man, erased and diminished, finds shelter on a distant, lonely planet...
