I am looking at a busy freeway on Saturday from a crossing bridge - a man in his 50's and gray hair - there are cars and cars and cars - going both directions, on the left towards me, on the right away from me - and to me, it looks like tin cans of sardines with wheels - producing lots of smoke and pollution - for people who just translate their misery from one point to another point and then pack - points that are rather... pointless - and I watch without any eagerness to join this silly flow - in the opposite, happiness to have stepped out - cursive writing - maybe the title is "Je me Suis Retiré de la Compétition" - subtitle "car elle n'a aucun sens..." - no other text than these two lines - charcoal and ink monochrome fuzzy dreamy foggy
Bien sûr, je l’ai fait, comme le font tous les autres.
Avancer, se comparer, avoir plus, vivre plus, montrer plus. Mais avec le temps - beaucoup de temps - j’ai compris que cette course n’était simplement plus la mienne.
Alors, peu à peu, j’ai quitté la route pour lui préférer le bord du chemin. Ça n’a pas été facile. Ça a pris du temps. Et j’ai fait ce choix non pas parce que les autres ont tort de courir, et surtout pas parce que je les juge. Mais parce que chacun avance à son rythme, vers ce qui compte pour lui.
Aujourd’hui, je les regarde passer sans regret. Mais je préfère rester sur le pont - avec mon vélo. Et, pour la première fois peut-être, je ne suis plus ni devant ni derrière. Je suis simplement... à côté.
Et il me suffit d’être là où je suis.
