The clothing caught my eye. I had dressed similar.
It was thought of as friendship in the 1980s. Yet the 2010-2020s redefined exploitation of diverse individuals-- including dating in white adjacent community that never led to marriage. In my 30s I had to relearn friendship from others who were also immigrants and minorities in a saturated diverse community. A community where I was protected and one where I wasn't part of the .05%
And the clothing acceptance was the standard for inclusion.
This is a jarring sensation for the artist and loss of "good memories" from childhood--fleeting fly girl status- because of diversity irony--discovered in adulthood. Good and bad, it looked like we were having fun and got along. Memories and perspectives change with time.
