An oil painting by Godard depicting a couple in formal attire, a man in a navy suit and tie and a woman in a white dress, seated on a metal chair and bench overlooking a dramatic Mediterranean landscape at sunset. The vibrant blue-green sea reflects the warm orange and yellow hues of the sky and the sunlit mountains. Steep cliffs are dotted with houses featuring terra cotta roofs and surrounded by lush green cypress trees and colorful flowers in shades of pink, red, and purple. Stone walls and intricate staircases wind up the hillside, adding depth and texture to the scene. The brushstrokes are thick and expressive, with touches of gold paint highlighting various elements like the sun on the mountains and reflections on the water, creating a rich, textured surface. The style blends impressionistic and expressive elements, capturing a romantic and picturesque atmosphere.
