ArtistFull-screen, front-lit, macro-view watercolor of a large, very ripe papaya, cut in half to reveal the deep-orange pulp and the many small, round, shiny black and taupe-colored seeds. The very smooth, shiny skin is greenish-orange. The two halves of the papaya lie on a very ornately patterned brass platter bought at a Moroccan bazaar; the platter lies atop a delicately patterned, pale pink Moroccan cactus silk tablecloth. The culinary still life is lit from the front and casts grayish-pink shadows on the splotchy, sumptuously striped and patterned wallpaper behind it. The wall is rendered in blurry, wet-on-wet speedpained watercolor. The papaya, platter and tablecloth are deftly and painstakingly rendered in diaphanous watercolor with exquisite detail, with the aquarelle painted all the way to the edges of the heavy, handmade rag paper. Prize-winning, museum quality biology aquarelle illustration in the style of Simonetta Occhipinti Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Jakob Demus, Hildegard Könighofer and Margareta Pertl as well as Siobhan Larkin.
A still life painting featuring a sliced papaya and a whole green squash on a metallic plate surrounded by a draped pink fabric. Papayas are reportedly loaded with antioxidants that can reduce inflammation, fight disease, and help keep you looking young.
