The Rune Staff of the North was crafted from the wood of an ancient ash tree that once grew on the shores of a rugged Nordic land. Runes were carved into this wood, the meaning of which is only partially understood even by scholars today. The first known owner of the staff was a magician and runemaster named Eirik. Eirik lived in a time when seafarers ventured far across the ocean, often setting sail into uncharted waters. He was known not only for reading runes but also for understanding their deeper meaning. The staff served him as a tool for interpreting signs in the wind, the water, and the sky. Many stories recount that the runes on the staff would begin to glow in a faint light when great changes were imminent. Seafarers sought Eirik's counsel before steering their ships into perilous waters. His warnings are said to have saved many lives. After his death, the staff was kept in a stone hall in the North. Some legends claim that his runes still light up today when the Northern Lights move across the sky.
