Similar to one I posted recently, based on a Dream that was itself based on a photo from the same old impromptu photo-shoot. Said photos were inspired by two things, firstly the Jean Giraud (Moebius) artwork 'The Hunter', hence the style I was trying to achieve here. And then also a line that I always loved in the book Catalogue of the Universe by New Zealand writer Margaret Mahy. In the book one of the characters says, actually in reference to growing a beard; "I've got to have a hobby, it's the boredom and the drumming in the jungle! The drums! The drums!". So I shaved the beard I'd grown over winter, searched the house for a costume and ventured off into the garden with camera and tripod in hand.
