ArtistA steam locomotive, coupled to a large boot with wheels, travelling along a railway track.
The new protected mode version of the ::SHE+ILA:: compiler has sufficient state tables built-in to parse an exofile containing the full set of ::SHE+ILA:: syntax rules in Buf source format. Thus the ::SHE+ILA:: syntax can be developed and enhanced without having to repeatedly re-ASM the parser and state machine code. Because it uses Bufs (and therefore Segs) it requires the protected mode SHE (Segmented Hierarchical Environment) kernel. The production rules which drive the compiler are then written into the ::SHE+ILA:: datastore (persistent swapfile) as they get compiled from the source exofile (PARSER.SHE). Sufficient states are built into the compiler to understand the Specify and Buf Parenthesis syntax, in order that it can bootstrap itself into a complete system.
