Poem by
Emilia Tejada
Fields of yellow faces
following the sun,
Impossible to count them
each and every one,
Waving gently in the breeze,
They make a sunny sigh.
Stretching up their heads
they smile at passers by.
Lots of little fairy helpers
for the sunflower’s needs,
They are the hidden secret
for scattering the seeds,
Hiding amongst the petals
opening at dawn,
Working all day
so new flowers
may be born,
Then weary
from the day’s work,
At dusk with failing light,
They close their petal shutters
and rest throughout the night.
Should you be a believer,
Next time you pass by,
Take a moment
amongst the faces
looking to the sky,
Then you may be lucky
to share a magic sight
of the sunflower
fairy's smile,
A rare and lovely
ray of light!
FAERIES AND MUSHROOMS
WHAT’S THE CONNECTION?
WELL, WHEN THE POEM MENTIONS…
Impossible to count them each and every one,
THIS REMINDS ME…
It is estimated 16 billion spores
are ejected from mushrooms.
How in the world
did someone come up with
that number!
How would they have counted them?
WHEN THE POEM MENTIONS
Lots of little fairy helpers
for the sunflowers needs,
they are the secret
for scattering the seeds…
THIS REMINDS ME…
There are many little ways
spores are helped
to spread…
…on the
backs of beetles,
the abdomen of wasps
upon other insects,
animals,
even,
YOU!
