Welcome to Wanderland :) Wanderland was a MUD-like online game, run on a PDP 11/70 in the eighties It ran on four telephone lines, connected to a large PDP 11 donated by (if I remember correctly) Shell Oil in order to run a hypertext system called Scrapbook, developed by NPL. In the evenings, when nobody was in the office, Wanderland was run instead. At its peak th persona file contained about 200 or so users. The MUD concept was originated by Richard Bartle and Roy Trubshaw of Essex University, probably inspired by the original Crowther and Woods "Colossal Cave" adventure game.
