ArtistFull screen, front-lit, sharp-focus, macro-view watercolor of several sprigs of variegated sage in shades of grayish white, pale yellow and dusty green lying on a white-and-gray Carrara marble chopping board along with a head of white-and-purple garlic and a Japanese sekizo paring knife with a hammer-forged blade and an elaborately patterned blue-and-green handle. Behind the marble chopping board, the kitchen wall is made of glass over a delicate patterned, frosted, darkish green background. The background is rendered in blurry, wet-on-wet watercolor and is hastily painted whereas the chopping board, the sprigs of sage, the head of garlic and the paring knife are deftly, lovingly and painstakingly rendered in diaphanous watercolor with exquisite detail. Some details are emphasized with a touch of pen-and-ink. The aquarelle painted all the way to the edges of the heavy, handmade rag paper. Prize-winning, museum quality biology aquarelle illustration in the style of Simonetta Occhipinti Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Jakob Demus, Hildegard Könighofer and Margareta Pertl as well as Siobhan Larkin.
A still life image featuring garlic cloves and fresh herbs on a marble cutting board beside a kitchen grater.
