Basically, when the wave function collapses (a quantum concept), there is a local change of entropy. (Entropy is information about the configuration and relationships between the "particles" making up an "object"). The flow of entropy into the "mind" (manas) causes the conscious experience of "qualia" (sensations). When these qualia are expected, there is less entropy flow, since the neurons are already wired the same way as the incoming sensory input. In fact if the input is totally expected, boredom occurs, as there is no entropy change. Hence entropy is actually a measurement of "surprise" or unexpectedness. If the external event is totally unexpected, it can invoke qualia of bewilderment or disorientation. This is a rapid high-bandwidth incoming flow of entropy.
