ArtistI saw Eternity the other night, Like a great ring of pure and endless light, All calm, as it was bright; And round beneath it, Time in hours, days, years, Driv’n by the spheres Like a vast shadow mov’d; in which the world And all her train were hurl’d.
One in an occasional series of dreams based upon my reading. (I'm an avid bookworm). My thanks are due to Unicorngraphics for their "Literary Masterpieces" series, which was my inspiration. My prompt for this one is taken from Vaughan's best-known poem "The World".
A surreal, detailed oil painting depicting a cosmic scene: In the foreground, a robed figure, with a staff, stands on a dark, rocky mountain looking out into the cosmos. Above the figure, a grand, vibrant, rainbow-colored ring of light orbits a dark void, against a starry night sky filled with nebulae. Descending from this celestial ring, a swirling cosmic ribbon of dark matter and stars winds around a highly detailed Earth at its center. This ribbon is adorned with numerous planets, moons, and golden gears of various sizes, along with tiny, richly detailed figures from different historical periods and architectural elements like temples and castles. These figures include sailing boats, people in ancient attire, men carrying flags, and others engaged in various activities, all arranged along the cosmic ribbon in a dynamic narrative flow. The overall impression is one of a grand, allegorical journey through time and space.
