Il batik a cera è un'antica tecnica di tintura a riserva di origine indonesiana. Consiste nell'applicare cera fusa (d'api o paraffina) su tessuti naturali (cotone, seta) utilizzando un canting (penna metallica) o pennelli per tracciare disegni. La cera impermeabilizza le zone coperte, impedendo al colore di penetrare durante l'immersione nella tinta.
