Here we have some knights (or perhaps officers) having a liesurely lunch under a tree while the soldiers (those who are paid to fight) are elsewhere spilling their life's blood on the field of battle. They all keep their helmets on when not actually eating or drinking, more as a signal of their rank than any needed protection at table. In the distance we see a sort of castle district with many costly and proud towers.
