ArtistAt Christopher Columbus's first encounter with the indigenous tribes on the Caribbean islands, the sunrise painted the sky with golden rays, illuminating the shores of the endless islands. The Taino and Arawak tribes, unfamiliar with such ships, stood on the shore in amazement, watching the approaching vessel with ringing sounds. Columbus and his crew, clad in armor and attire unfamiliar to the locals, disembarked onto the sandy beach. The silvery waves caressed the sailors' feet, while the scents of unfamiliar plants and spices filled the air. The Indians' eyes, both troubled and curious, looked at the newcomers, their gaze reflecting fear, astonishment, and hope for new discoveries. Columbus, with his head held high, extended a hand of peace, attempting to establish contact with the local inhabitants, whose faces revealed a multitude of emotions and mysteries.
